best work ute 2023 Page 9

If you’re hunting the best work ute in 2023, the usual hard-hitters still punch on: Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D‑Max, and Mitsubishi Triton.

The Ranger feels most modern and punchy—especially with the optional 3.0‑litre V6 diesel—and totes up to 3,500 kg braked towing with around a tonne in the tray.

HiLux counters with brick-outhouse reliability and huge dealer coverage, though its ride and infotainment feel a touch Jurassic.

D‑Max is the no-fuss tradie special—tough 3.0 diesel, strong safety tech—while Triton is sharp value, if not the heaviest hauler.

Truth is, the “best” ute is the one that matches your graft: prioritise payload and towing, then check servicing costs, ANCAP rating, and tray fit-outs; buy the sticker, not the sizzle.
