bi directional charging australia Page 3

Bi-directional charging is the nifty tech that lets your electric vehicle (EV) double as a giant power bank. In Australia, this means your EV can not only gulp electricity but also feed it back to your home or the grid, potentially saving you a pretty penny on those pesky energy bills during peak times.

Key points:

• Supports Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functions.
• Requires compatible EVs and chargers, more common in newer models.
• Can help with energy management and emergency backup power.

Prices for bi-directional charging setups vary widely, with home chargers starting around AUD 3,000, excluding installation. Some Aussie utilities and governments are dabbling in V2G trials, but widespread adoption is still a few years away. For the latest gear and deals, keep an eye on CarShowroom and ServiceCentral.
