Match like-for-like in Australia using recent listings (Tradingpost, Bikesales, Gumtree): make, model, year, kilometres for motorcycles, or frame, groupset, wheelset for bicycles, plus overall condition.

Add value for rego, RWC, full service history, and fresh tyres/chain; subtract for crash scars, leaks, tired consumables and backyard "upgrades".

Private prices typically sit about 5–15% under dealer retail, and learner-friendly (LAMS) gear often carries a premium.

Build a realistic range, list at the hopeful end, and expect offers circling the sensible end.
