Selling a boat in Australia? Keep it simple, tidy, and legally useful—your future self will thank you.
A solid receipt should include buyer/seller details, the boat’s identifiers (HIN, registration, make/model/year, hull material), engine and trailer details, the price in AUD, any deposit, the date, and an “as‑is” note unless you’re offering a warranty.
Both parties should sign, print names, add IDs and addresses, and each keep a copy—list included accessories so no one wrestles over the anchor later.
Run a PPSR check for encumbrances and lodge transfers with your state marine authority (and the road authority for the trailer); it’s dull, but it saves drama.
