Want to book a rego check online? Two different things wear that name.
If you just want to check a vehicle’s registration status, use your state’s official rego check (free) with the plate or VIN. If you need the inspection (NSW “eSafety/pink slip”, QLD Safety Certificate, etc.), book an authorised inspection station or mechanic online; they upload the result electronically to the road authority. Have the rego number, VIN and your licence handy, and pick a time before your renewal window closes. And no, you don’t book the government check—only the inspection with a workshop—because bureaucracy loves a distinction.
