book valuation Page 6

Ah, the elusive 'book valuation'—basically the fancy term for what your prized possession (usually a car) is worth on paper. In Australia, this typically refers to the Red Book or Glass's Guide, which provide estimated market values based on make, model, year, and condition. New cars start at their showroom price, often north of $30,000 for a decent sedan, while used values fluctuate wildly depending on wear and tear.

If you're hunting for exact numbers, sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom can offer real-world prices to help calibrate those valuations. Remember, the book value is a guideline, not gospel—your car’s quirks and the market mood play their part.
