Frozen Music - Cobbold Marika - 1999

Esther And Linus Are Star-crossed lovers who have only just met; yet they have known of each other their entire lives, thanks to the long-lasting letter-writing friendship between their mothers. Linus was a clumsy, dreamy child in Sweden whose mother died tragically when he was seven. Now he is a handsome, extremely talented architect of great vision. He has just landed the job of a lifetime - designing a grand opera house to be built in England. For Linus, great architecture is "frozen music, " and this opera house will be his masterpiece. Esther, who grew up in England with endearingly inadequate parents, always questioned the "why" of things. Now she is a journalist, bent on defending an elderly English couple's right to remain in their home, even after the property underneath it has been sold to accommodate a soon-to-be-built opera house.
