boxer service Page 5

Ah, the infamous "boxer service"—a ritual for those who fancy their engines flat and their maintenance quirky. Boxer engines, known for their horizontally opposed cylinders, demand a bit more TLC than your average inline engine. Expect specialized oil changes, valve adjustments, and timing belt inspections to keep that flat-four or flat-six purring like a contented cat.

• Oil change every 10,000 to 15,000 km
• Valve clearance checks around 30,000 to 40,000 km
• Timing belt replacement typically every 100,000 km

Prices can vary, but budget around $300 to $600 at ServiceCentral or your local mechanic to avoid surprises. For the aficionados, Tradingpost and CarShowroom might reveal what others have paid in the past. Remember, an attentive boxer is a happy boxer—consult your vehicle’s manual for official specs.
