At the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix (Interlagos), George Russell bagged his first F1 win, leading a Mercedes 1–2 with Hamilton P2 and Sainz P3.
It was a sprint weekend: Kevin Magnussen stunned everyone by topping qualifying, Russell won the sprint, then controlled the main race like he’d been doing it for years.
There was the usual Interlagos aggro—Verstappen tangled with Hamilton and copped a penalty, and the Red Bull team-orders kerfuffle with Pérez added spice.
Leclerc recovered to P4 and Alonso nabbed P5, because apparently age is just a number unless you’re a tyre.
In short: classic Brazil—chaos, pace, and a podium that finally smiled on Russell.
