buffing car paint Page 2

Buffing car paint is part science, part patience, and entirely avoiding the “whoops, I burned the clearcoat” moment.

Work in the shade, wash and decontaminate first, then test a small spot with the least aggressive combo: a mild polish on a dual‑action polisher at low speed.

If defects remain, step up to a light compound, keep the pad flat, and move slowly—about 2–3 cm per second—because sprinting is for marathons, not paint correction.

Clean or swap pads often, tape sharp edges and trims, and don’t dwell on high spots unless you enjoy primer grey.

Finish with a refining polish, wipe with quality microfibre, then seal with wax or ceramic; stand back and pretend you always meant it to look that glossy.
