buying a car in qld Page 8

Buying a car in Queensland is about as straightforward as a Sunday drive along the coast—if you dodge the usual potholes. Expect to navigate registration transfer fees, stamp duty, and the mandatory safety inspection called a 'roadworthy certificate' if buying from a private seller. New cars start around $20,000 AUD for the basics, while used cars can be snagged for a song, often under $10,000 AUD, depending on condition and age. Always check the vehicle history report and consider a pre-purchase inspection, lest you end up with a lemon. For listings, Tradingpost and CarShowroom are your mates. Remember, paperwork is as vital as your sunscreen in this sunburnt country.
