Buying a car interstate from NSW to SA isn’t a boss fight, just a side quest with paperwork.
Do a PPSR check to confirm it’s not written-off or still wearing the bank’s shackles, get a proper invoice, and decide how to move it: drive it on its current NSW rego, grab an unregistered vehicle permit, or book a carrier. Once in SA, you’ll need to register it locally (generally within 90 days if you live in SA), pay stamp duty and rego/CTP, and in many cases front up for an identity inspection. Return or cancel the NSW plates if the old rego’s being binned, and chase any refund the seller’s entitled to. Insurance is your friend before you turn the key, and a pre‑purchase inspection is cheaper than inheriting someone else’s “character”. Found it on Tradingpost? Nice—sort the admin, then enjoy the long way home along the Coorong.
