buying a car interstate vic to sa Page 319

Ah, the classic interstate car-buying tango from Victoria to South Australia—thrilling yet fraught with bureaucratic joy.

• Registration: You'll need to transfer the vehicle's registration from VIC to SA within 14 days of purchase.
• Stamp Duty: Be prepared to pay stamp duty in SA, usually calculated based on the vehicle's market value.
• Roadworthy Certificate: SA requires a roadworthy inspection before registration—don't skip this or your new ride might be grounded.
• Transporting the Vehicle: Temporary permits or trade plates might be necessary if you drive the car interstate before registration in SA.

Pro tip: Check out listings on Tradingpost or CarShowroom to gauge prices and availability before making the leap.
