Buying a second-hand car in Victoria can be a thrilling adventure or a costly mistake, depending on your due diligence. Prices vary wildly, but expect around $5,000 to $20,000 AUD for a decent used vehicle. Key tips include checking the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) to ensure the car isn’t stolen or under finance, getting a comprehensive mechanical inspection, and confirming registration status. Websites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom are treasure troves for listings. Remember, the cheapest car often ends up costing the most in repairs, so don’t skimp on checks!
