buying a used car victoria Page 5

Buying a used car in Victoria is a bit like dating: check the history, don't rush, and be wary of any suspicious bumps and bruises. Expect to pay anywhere from a few grand for a trusty old hatchback to $20,000+ for something newer and flashier. Remember to get a VicRoads vehicle history report to avoid lemons and check for outstanding debts. Also, verify the registration status and roadworthy certificate—it's the law. For the best bargains, poke around Tradingpost and CarShowroom, but test drive before you commit to anything. And always, always budget for a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic; it’ll save you tears and dollars.
