Short answer: only if it’s registered, or you’ve got a NSW Unregistered Vehicle Permit (UVP). Otherwise, it’s a tow-truck-and-she’ll-be-right situation.
A Blue Slip is the identity and safety check for unregistered or previously defected vehicles in NSW; driving an unregistered car on public roads without a UVP is illegal.
Grab a UVP from Service NSW for a specific date/route (CTP cover for the permit period is included), carry it with you, and go straight to the inspection.
If the car is still currently registered, you can drive it to the Blue Slip appointment; if not, book a permit or book a tow. Easy.
