can i sell my car if its under finance Page 2

Yes, but only if the loan is cleared—because until then the lender owns a slice of your car. Get a written payout figure from your finance company and a PPSR search to confirm the encumbrance; at settlement, have the buyer’s money (or the dealer’s) sent to the lender first, then any leftover to you. You can also pay it out beforehand, get a release letter, and present a clean PPSR to make buyers breathe easier. If you’ve got negative equity, stump up the shortfall in cash or fold it into a separate personal loan—don’t try to pass the buck to the next owner. Keep the paperwork saintly: receipts, payout confirmation, PPSR clear certificate, and then do the transfer with your state authority (Service NSW, VicRoads, TMR, etc.). List honestly on Tradingpost that finance is owing and that payout will occur at handover; surprises are for birthdays, not settlements.
