Short answer: in NSW, P1 and P2 drivers generally can’t drive a Subaru WRX—it’s classed as a high‑performance vehicle.
NSW restricts P‑platers from cars over a set power‑to‑weight limit (around 130 kW/tonne), and the WRX comfortably blasts past it.
There’s an exemption process for special circumstances, but it’s rare, paperwork‑heavy, and won’t magically make insurance cheap.
If in doubt, run the rego through the official checker or ask Service NSW before you hand over cash; fines and demerits are a much slower kind of turbo.
