Short answer: you shouldn’t, and in many situations you effectively can’t do so legally in Australia. You must be in proper control of the vehicle at all times, and a medical boot on your right foot (the one that works the throttle and brake) can clobber pedal feel and reaction times. If a crash happens and the boot is deemed a factor, police and insurers will not be amused. Most doctors and road agencies advise against driving until you’re medically cleared and fully in control—especially with an automatic where the right foot does all the important pedalling. Talk to your doctor, your insurer, and your state transport authority before even thinking about the keys. If in doubt, don’t drive—get a lift, rideshare, or enjoy being chauffeured like minor royalty.
