Short answer: yes—but only if your sedan’s roof and racks are rated for it.
Most sedans carry a dynamic roof load of around 50–75 kg; many rooftop tents weigh 45–65 kg before you add racks, so do the maths.
The static load (when parked) is far higher, so sleeping up top is fine; it’s the on‑road limit that matters.
Use proper, vehicle‑specific racks mounted to fixed points, avoid glass/sunroof panels, and check the owner’s manual plus the tent and rack ratings.
Expect more wind noise, thirstier fuel use, and wobblier handling—your sedan didn’t suddenly become a LandCruiser.
If you’re close to the limit, choose a lighter soft‑shell tent or stick it on a trailer and keep your roof drama‑free.
