The GWM Cannon X is the ute that turns the spec sheet up to 11, then asks for a discount anyway.

Its 2.0‑litre turbo‑diesel makes 120 kW and 400 Nm, driving a 4x4 system through an 8‑speed auto—brisk enough, more workhorse than racehorse.

Unladen ride can get jittery, but it settles with a load, and the light steering keeps city errands painless.

Cabin kit is generous for the money: leather, 360° camera, adaptive cruise, and a big screen that occasionally tries to outsmart itself.

Rated to tow 3,000 kg braked with roughly a tonne of payload and a 5‑star ANCAP rating (2021), it nails the value brief.

Expect mid‑$40Ks drive‑away new, and high‑$20Ks to $40K used—plenty of examples pop up on Tradingpost if you’re keen.
