car safety certificate qld Page 6

Ah, the elusive Car Safety Certificate in Queensland—your golden ticket to prove that a vehicle isn’t a death trap on wheels. Officially called a Safety Certificate, it’s mandatory when you register a used vehicle or transfer ownership in QLD. This certificate confirms the car meets the minimum safety standards, not that it’s a fortress of solitude.

Key points:

• Issued by an authorised inspection station.
• Valid for 1 month or 1,000km—whichever comes first.
• Costs usually range from $40 to $60 AUD.

Remember, it doesn’t cover mechanical faults or emissions, just the basics like brakes, tyres, lights, and seatbelts. For official details, peek at the Queensland Government’s transport website or consult ServiceCentral for inspection services.
