car service receipt Page 46

A proper car service receipt in Australia should look less like a mystery novel and more like an audit-ready checklist. Include the workshop’s details and ABN, the customer’s info, and the vehicle identifiers—make, model, rego, VIN—plus the odometer reading and service date.

List every job and part clearly: labour hours and rate, parts with part numbers and quantities, shop/disposal fees, and the GST (10%) line with subtotals and a grand total that doesn’t require a calculator and a stiff drink.

Add warranty terms for parts/labour, note any road test or safety checks, and write the next service due by km/date so nobody plays calendar roulette.

Finish with the technician’s name/signature and, where required, your repairer licence/registration number—state rules vary, but paperwork pedants do not.

If you’re selling the car, attach the receipt to the logbook; buyers love proof more than promises.
