car service time Page 45

For a routine logbook service, expect about 1.5–3 hours, though dealers often ask for the car half a day so they’re not rushing.

A “major” service with plugs, fluids, filters and inspections can run 3–6 hours; timing-belt or DSG work can blow that out further.

Independent workshops can be quicker if you book the first slot; dealers can offer loan cars or a shuttle if it’s an all‑day affair.

Bottom line: ask for a time estimate when booking and plan for drop-off by 8–9am with pickup after 3–5pm, just to keep everyone’s blood pressure down.
