car wait times australia 2023 Page 9

In Australia through 2023, car wait times calmed down from the 2022 chaos, but it still depended wildly on brand, spec and how fussy you were about paint colours with fancy names. Mainstream models often shifted to a few weeks or a couple of months, while hot-ticket hybrids, utes and niche trims could still stretch much longer. Toyota’s icons (think 70 Series and LandCruiser 300) were basically a patience triathlon; cancellations and dealer swaps were sometimes the quickest route. Flexibility on colour/options trims delays dramatically, and widening your search radius helps—demo and in‑stock cars on Tradingpost can be a shortcut. Watch for mid-queue price rises and get a contract that locks the drive-away figure. And always ring a few dealers, because allocations move and ships don’t read press releases.
