caravan brands to avoid australia Page 10

Naming and shaming is a mug’s game, but there are clear red flags that mean a caravan—whatever badge is slapped on—belongs in the "avoid" pile in Australia.

• Shoddy sealing and water ingress around roofs and hatches; soft floors or swollen cabinetry are dead giveaways.
• Underspecified chassis or dodgy welds; suspension/components rated below the ATM, cracks, or rust starting early.
• Unrealistic weights and tiny payload; compliance plate figures that don’t stack up, especially on so‑called off‑road vans with road tyres and light hardware.
• Messy 12V/240V wiring or gas plumbing without proper compliance certificates.
• Doors/windows out of alignment, loose furniture and failing latches—classic quality control misses.
• Warranty run-arounds, thin dealer support, vague build dates or sketchy recall history.

Get an independent inspection, check compliance and safety plates, and confirm real weights at a weighbridge before you hand over a cent. Cross‑check owner forums and ACCC Product Safety notices, and remember: a solid written warranty beats brochure bravado every day of the week.
