caravan valuation guide australia Page 8

Valuing a caravan in Australia is part detective work, part reading tea leaves from classified ads—but there’s a method to the madness. New caravans run roughly from $25k–$60k for compact/pop-tops, $60k–$120k for mainstream family tourers, and $90k–$180k+ for off-road or luxury rigs; used prices typically land at 40%–80% of new depending on age, condition and spec. Compare like-for-like on Tradingpost, check build year, layout, brand reputation, tare/ATM, service history, water ingress (look for soft spots and musty smells), tyre and seal age, and remember mods rarely return full spend. A clean 3–5-year-old mainstream van might fetch $40k–$80k, while older but tidy tourers can sit $15k–$40k; unicorn builds and hardcore off-roaders skew higher. For insurance or finance, get a written valuation—buyers’ tall tales are free, repairs are not.
