Browse campervans for sale under $40,000 on Tradingpost, listed by private owners and licensed caravan dealers.
A motorhome or campervan is a vehicle before it is a home, so start with the running gear: odometer reading, service history, the age of the tyres and the state of the house battery. Confirm the licence you need as well, because anything over 4.5 tonnes GVM calls for a light rigid licence in most states. Then work through the fit-out. Work out how many berths you need, whether it is fully self contained with a shower, toilet and grey water tank, and how much fresh water, solar and battery it carries if you plan to camp off grid.
Move the minimum and maximum to reshape the price range, and sort by price to see where the value sits. Budget a little beyond the sticker for insurance, the next service and a set of tyres.
People comparing these also weigh up motorhomes, bus conversions, slide-on campers, camper trailers and pop tops. Or go back to the whole list.
Every listing carries photos, an asking price, the seller location and a way to get in touch, so you can shortlist, arrange an inspection and negotiate direct. On anything second hand, confirm the registration and its expiry before money changes hands, run a check for finance owing against the vehicle, and ask to see a current gas compliance certificate for the cooktop and hot water service.
Also in the caravans department: the Motor Homes category, mobile homes, relocatables and caravan parts and accessories. Selling instead? Create a listing, set out the tare, the ATM and what has been done to it, and reach buyers who are ready to tow one home.
As the second owners of this nifty 2017 off-road jayco swift we have had a terrific experience. This compact yet comfortable little camper works well for a couple or small family....
