Selling or buying in South Australia? You transfer rego through mySAGOV (or a Service SA centre) with the sale price, date, odometer and both parties’ details. The seller lodges a Notice of Disposal; the buyer submits the transfer and pays stamp duty plus a transfer fee—do it within 14 days or cop a late fee. If the car’s coming from interstate or has been defected, you may need an identity check or inspection before plates and paperwork behave. SA doesn’t require a routine roadworthy for a private sale, but an obviously unsafe car will still fail the vibe—and the law. Keep a receipt, cancel or transfer any personalised plates, and make sure the insurer is told before you joyride the long way home.
