Changing rego plates in Queensland is straightforward, if not exactly glamorous.
For new or personalised plates, order through Personalised Plates Queensland (PPQ); for standard replacements or swaps, lodge it with Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
Bring ID and proof of registration/ownership, pay the relevant plate fees, and if your plates were stolen, file a police report before you show up.
When the new plates arrive, bolt them on with the supplied screws, surrender the old ones as directed, and make sure any plate covers don’t obscure the letters or you’ll cop a fine.
Moving to QLD from interstate? You’ll need to register the vehicle in QLD at TMR (ID, proof of ownership, a current safety certificate, and CTP included in rego) and you’ll be issued QLD plates.
In short: book or queue, pay the fees, fit the plates, and enjoy your newly legal rectangles.
