Moving north? You don’t “transfer” interstate rego to Queensland—you register the car in QLD and retire the NSW plates.
Get a QLD Safety Certificate (roadworthy), sort your CTP insurance, and take proof of ID and a QLD garaging address to a TMR office to register and pay stamp duty and fees.
Hand over the NSW plates at TMR, then cancel the NSW rego with Service NSW to chase any refund.
Do it within about 14 days of becoming a QLD resident to dodge fines, and keep receipts/photos of the car just in case someone asks awkward questions.
Rules do change, so check TMR and Service NSW for the latest paperwork and costs before you queue.
