If you’re chasing the cheapest medium SUV in Australia for 2023, the MG HS tends to wear the bargain crown, with entry variants around AUD $30k–$33k drive-away. The Haval H6 lurks in the mid‑$30ks, while mainstream names like Tucson, Sportage and CX‑5 usually kick off in the high‑$30ks to low‑$40ks, and RAV4 asks a bit more (plus a patience tax). On the used side, a 2023 MG HS often lists about $22k–$30k, the H6 roughly $26k–$34k, and the popular Japanese set commands stronger money thanks to demand. If you like a sharp badge and tighter handling, you’ll pay for it; if you like maximum metal per dollar, the value champs are obvious—have a stickybeak on Tradingpost and see who’s playing nice on price.
