Hunting the cheapest small car in Australia for 2022? At the bargain end, the MG3 Core sat around $17,990 drive‑away in many states, while the Kia Picanto S hovered roughly $16–19k depending on on‑roads (yes, tiny car, tiny price, tiny ego).

If you meant the bigger “Small Car” class (Corolla/i30/Cerato territory), base models typically kicked off around $24–27k plus on‑roads.

Used market reality check: two‑ to three‑year‑old light hatches were commonly $12–18k, and entry small‑segment hatches/sedans about $15–28k depending on kilometres and condition.

They’re cheap to run, easy to park, and unlikely to judge your parallel‑parking technique—unlike your passengers.
