child in front seat victoria Page 8

In Victoria, Australia, the law about children in the front seat is as clear as mud to most parents. The rules state that children under the age of 7 must be properly secured in a child restraint, and it's strongly advised they travel in the back seat for safety. If the vehicle has no back seats, or they're all occupied by children under 7, a child can sit in the front seat but must be in an appropriate child restraint.

Airbags are a nasty surprise for kids in front seats, so turning off the passenger airbag is a good idea if the child must sit there. Remember, the law is primarily about safety, not just avoiding fines.
