collectable classics Page 8

Ah, "collectable classics"—the automotive unicorns that make your wallet weep yet your heart soar. These gems often include cars like the Ford Falcon XY GT, Holden Monaro, and the timeless Mini Cooper. Prices can range wildly from $30,000 AUD for a decent early '70s model to a cool quarter-million for pristine examples with pedigree. Expect common issues like rust, parts scarcity, and the occasional carburettor tantrum:

• Body rust, especially in chassis and wheel wells
• Electrical gremlins due to aged wiring
• Carburettor tuning woes

For the true enthusiast, these classics are worth every cent and headache. Check out Tradingpost and CarShowroom for current listings and ServiceCentral for maintenance tips.
