common lpg car problems Page 178

Running an LPG car can save coin, but a few gremlins like to hitch a ride.

Here are the common LPG car problems in Australia:

• Valve seat recession on engines not designed for LPG, especially if driven hard without valve-lube systems.
• Hard cold starts and rough idle when the system is out of tune or the mixer/injectors are dirty.
• Regulator/vaporiser and injector failures over time, plus perished hoses causing leaks or fumes.
• Out-of-date tanks and compliance: LPG cylinders require inspection/replacement roughly every 10 years, which isn’t cheap.

Regular servicing by an LPG-savvy mechanic and timely filter/regulator maintenance keeps things drama-free and the savings intact.
