common problems with audi q3 Page 2

The Audi Q3 is a tidy little premium SUV that can charm your socks off, then occasionally nick them with a repair bill.

Here are the gremlins Aussie buyers most often report:

• Early 2.0 TFSI engines can suffer oil consumption and timing-chain tensioner woes, especially on pre-2013 builds.
• S tronic (DSG) shudder or mechatronic faults on smaller TFSI models; software updates and clutch packs are the usual cures.
• Water pump/thermostat housing leaks that start as a sweet smell and end as a tow truck.
• Quattro cars need Haldex coupling services; neglected pumps lead to no rear drive and much swearing.

Also watch for sunroof drain leaks and, on diesels, DPF dramas with too many short trips; a pre-purchase inspection is money well spent.
