common problems with mitsubishi eclipse cross Page 2

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is generally a dependable little turbo-CVT runabout, but no car is entirely halo-worthy.

Here are the issues most commonly reported by owners and mechanics worth their Torx sets:

• CVT behaviour: low-speed judder or flare, and hesitant take-off; software updates and fresh CVT fluid often help.
• Infotainment quirks: slow boot-ups, touchpad frustration on early cars, and occasional CarPlay/Android Auto dropouts.
• Driver-assist sensitivity: over-eager forward-collision or lane warnings, especially after windscreen work until the camera is calibrated.
• Trim noises: cabin rattles and cargo-area squeaks on rough roads; some report wind noise at highway speed.
• Consumables and alignment: front tyre wear and brake shudder if rotors glaze from lots of city stop-start.

None of this is catastrophic, but it pays to road-test from stone-cold and listen for anything that sounds like a toolbox falling down the stairs.

Check recall and software campaigns by VIN, demand a complete service history, and you’ll likely be motoring happily rather than budgeting for gremlins.
