common problems with nissan qashqai Page 7

The Nissan Qashqai is a handy little SUV, but it’s not entirely free of gremlins—think of it as a polite reminder that test drives aren’t just for the scenery.

Most noise surrounds the Xtronic CVT: watch for shuddering, delayed take-off, or a high-pitched whine. Stop-start batteries can give up early, and some owners report rear-end knocks over bumps. Diesel variants don’t love short trips thanks to DPF clogging. Infotainment and Bluetooth can be flaky, usually sorted with updates—or the classic turn-it-off-and-on-again.

• CVT shudder/hesitation or whining; fluid change and software updates may help, replacement is pricey.
• Premature 12V/stop-start battery failure and slow cranking—load test before buying.
• Rear suspension knocks from drop links/bushes—listen over speed humps.
• Diesel DPF clogging on short-trip use—watch for warnings or frequent regens.
• Infotainment/Bluetooth dropouts or camera glitches—often fixed by firmware updates/resets.

Buy with a full service history, check recalls, and get a pre-purchase inspection; if the CVT behaves and the electrics are happy, it’s a solid commuter. If not, keep walking and let someone else fund the drama.
