common problems with ssangyong rexton Page 2

The SsangYong Rexton is a value 4x4 that can tow a house, but it still has a few gremlins worth checking.

• Diesel models often cop DPF/EGR clogging with lots of short trips, showing limp mode, warning lights or rough idle.
• Expect wear in front control-arm bushes, ball joints and wheel bearings, especially after towing or corrugations.
• Electrical niggles pop up—central locking actuators, window regulators, sensors/earths—plus the odd infotainment freeze.
• 4WD engagement issues from tired vacuum lines/actuators; autos can shudder if fluid changes were skipped.

Look for a full service history, check for early-2000s rust spots, and run the VIN for recalls; a pre-purchase inspection is cheaper than a new diff.
