common problems with tesla model y long range

The Tesla Model Y Long Range is a sturdy bit of kit, but it’s not flawless. Here are the recurring grumbles owners in Australia report.

• Build quality niggles: panel gaps, trim squeaks, the odd paint blemish (early cars worse; Shanghai-built MYs generally tidier).
• Road and wind noise on coarse-chip roads; suspension can feel firm, especially on 20-inch wheels.
• Phantom braking or lane-keep jitters with Autopilot on patchy lane markings.
• Rapid tyre wear and pricey replacements due to torque and weight.
• Condensation in tail-lights or minor water ingress around seals reported by some owners.
• Interior rattles from rear seat latches or hatch area on rough surfaces.
• Software gremlins after updates (Bluetooth glitches, camera freezes) usually fixed in later patches.

Battery and drive unit warranty is 8 years/192,000 km (minimum 70% capacity), with vehicle coverage at 4 years/80,000 km in Australia. Test-drive on your local roads, keep tyre pressures honest, and log issues promptly—Tesla service is app-based and generally quick, if a touch robotic.
