compare car insurance nt

Comparing car insurance in the NT is less “Green Slip bingo” and more “pick your cover,” because CTP is bundled with your rego and not something you shop.

The real choice is between Comprehensive, Third Party Property, and Third Party Fire & Theft—same sunburnt roads, very different safety nets.

  • Comprehensive: Pros—covers your car and others’ for crashes, storms, theft; optional extras like hire car. Cons—highest premiums; watch excesses and off‑road/remote‑use clauses.
  • Third Party Property: Pros—cheap, covers damage you cause to others. Cons—your own car isn’t covered; a hailstorm in Darwin won’t be your friend.
  • Third Party Fire & Theft: Pros—adds theft and fire to TPPD. Cons—still no cover for your own crash damage.

Price will swing on driver age/history, postcode (Darwin vs Alice), vehicle value, security, and how brave you set the excess.

Compare on excess, agreed vs market value, windscreen cover, flood/cyclone wording, remote‑recovery limits, and whether they’ll play nice on long outback trips.
