difference between sr and sr5 hilux 2023 Page 4

In 2023, the HiLux SR and SR5 are siblings with the same work ethic—both commonly run the 2.8‑litre turbo‑diesel, tow up to 3,500 kg braked, and offer 4x2 or 4x4 with auto or manual. The differences are about kit and comfort: SR is the practical workhorse (steel wheels, vinyl or hardy cloth, fewer shiny bits), while SR5 adds the creature comforts (alloys, LED lights, smart entry, climate control, nicer trim, bigger infotainment). Expect the SR5’s badge tax—typically several grand more than an equivalent SR—even before you start eyeing premium paint or a tub liner. SR pros: lower price, easier to keep clean, fleet‑friendly features; SR cons: fewer niceties, less bling for clients and school pickup duty. SR5 pros: extra tech and cosmetics, stronger resale, better night lighting; SR5 cons: higher buy‑in, tyres/alloys less bush‑abuse‑proof than steels. Choose based on whether your weekends are spreadsheets and shovels or cafés and campgrounds—both will quietly get on with it.
