The straightforward run is via the Carnarvon Hwy (A7) through Injune and Rolleston, then up past Springsure on the Gregory Hwy, taking about 4–4.5 hours in normal conditions.

There’s fuel and pies at Injune, Rolleston, and Springsure, so neither you nor the ute need suffer.
