driving rules in perth Page 3

Perth plays by Western Australia’s book: expect 50 km/h in built-up areas (lower in school zones when signed), 100 km/h on many open roads, and up to 110 km/h on some highways.

Seatbelts for everyone, kids in proper restraints, and a blood alcohol limit of 0.05 for full licences (zero for L and P platers). Phones are hands‑free only if you’re fully licensed and the device is properly mounted; learners and provisional drivers mustn’t touch them at all. Keep left on multi‑lane roads and freeways unless overtaking, give way to traffic already in a roundabout (and indicate on exit), and don’t turn on red unless there’s a sign begging you to. Speed and red‑light cameras are common and unamused, so mind the signs and your right foot.
