driving without p plates nsw Page 2

Driving in NSW without your P plates is an offence, a bit like turning up to a job interview in thongs—memorable, but not in the way you want. Both P1 (red) and P2 (green) drivers must display plates front and rear whenever they’re behind the wheel of a vehicle they’re licensed to drive. Expect a fine and demerit points if you’re caught, with double demerits during holiday blitzes adding extra spice to the bill. Rack up enough points and a suspension can follow, which tends to cancel weekend plans faster than a flat battery. If your plates have fallen off, fix or replace them immediately—keeping a spare set in the glovebox is smart—and check official Service NSW guidance for exact penalties.
