eating while driving qld Page 222

In Queensland, eating while driving isn’t specifically illegal, but if it causes you to not have proper control or to drive without due care and attention, you can be fined and cop demerit points.

Think of it like juggling hot chips at 100 km/h—drop your focus and you’re the offence, not the snack. Messy, two‑handed food (burgers, burritos) is riskier than a quick sip of water.

Keep one hand on the wheel, eyes on the road, and the tomato sauce off the steering wheel; if in doubt, pull over and feed both you and the upholstery in peace.

For the latest rules and penalties, check Queensland’s official guidance before turning the cabin into a mobile café.
