Euro 6d is the final, stricter phase of the Euro 6 light-vehicle emissions rules, adding tougher WLTP lab tests and on-road RDE checks to clamp down on NOx and particulates.
In the EU it applied to new type approvals from 2020 and to all new registrations from 2021, wrapping up the interim “6d‑TEMP” era.
Australia has committed to Euro 6d: new light-vehicle models must meet it from 1 December 2025, and all new light vehicles from 1 December 2028.
Practically, expect more diesel SCR/AdBlue systems and petrol particulate filters, plus engines tuned to behave in the real world, not just in a lab.
Good news for the air you breathe; less good for anyone who thinks a DPF light is a friendly suggestion.
