Australia’s 2024 EV scene has gone from “hmm” to “heck yes,” with favourites like Tesla Model 3/Y, BYD Atto 3, MG4, Hyundai Ioniq 5/6, Kia EV6 and Volvo EX30 crowding the plugs.

Most deliver 300–600 km WLTP range and can DC fast-charge 10–80% in about 25–35 minutes if you pick a decent station.

At home, a 7 kW wallbox adds roughly 30–40 km of range per hour, which beats watching petrol prices do gymnastics.

Running costs are low, servicing is mostly tire-and-wiper theatre, and the public network keeps expanding—plan your stops and you’re laughing.

New prices typically span AUD $40k–$120k+ depending on badge and battery, with used bargains appearing as early adopters trade up.
