In Australia, the common EV cable landscape is simple: Type 2 (Mennekes) for most new cars, with some older imports still using Type 1 (J1772).
For home and many untethered public AC posts, you’ll want a Mode 3 Type 2-to-Type 2 cable; a portable Mode 2 “granny” charger handles the 10A/15A wall socket stuff.
Driving something with a Type 1 inlet? Bring a Type 1-to-Type 2 lead or adapter for public AC.
Fast charging is another game: almost all modern EVs use CCS2 and those stations have tethered cables; older Nissans may use CHAdeMO, which is steadily fading but still around.
Bottom line: check your car’s port and the charger icon, and you’ll look like a pro instead of a confused statue at a servo.
